The Phottix Essentials Two Layers Detached Reflective Umbrella 40" is the best of both worlds. It's removible cover converts it from a white shoot-through style to a silver reflective umbrella creating two very different lighting effects from one light shaping tool. When configured as a white shoot through umbrella it effectively acts like a softbox to creating a soft, wrap around light. Then, once the black and silver cover is added the light output becomes much more directional and contrasty.
